Chard Camera Club Competition Evening: A Night of Exceptional Photography

 

The latest Chard Camera Club competition evening was a celebration of skill, creativity, and dedication, with members showcasing stunning work across two categories: Landscape and Open. With both DPI and print entries, the level of competition was incredibly high, and judge Mack Chivers had the challenging task of selecting the winners among a field of exceptional images.

In the Landscape print category, Alan William claimed 1st place with his captivating Wild Dorset print, a striking portrayal of the region’s natural beauty. Lorraine Best secured 2nd place with her imaginative Colourful Alley, bringing a vibrant and unique perspective to the scene. Alan rounded off the top three with his 3rd place Double Exposure print, which displayed a creative approach to composition.

The Open print category saw Alan continuing his winning streak, taking 1st place with Fallen Tree, a compelling image that captivated the audience. Don Easter earned 2nd place with Pile-on the Power, an image brimming with energy and impact. Steve Weller took 3rd place with Lady in Red, a striking and elegant composition.

The competition remained intense in the DPI Landscape category, where Steph Walsh secured 1st place with The Glade, a beautifully balanced and atmospheric shot. Geoff Gummer claimed 2nd place with Seen Better Days, an image that told a compelling story of time and decay. Colin Evans took 3rd place with Combe Valley, a scenic and thoughtfully composed piece.

Finally, the DPI Open category delivered an exciting finish to the evening. Lee Mitchell took 1st place with his dynamic street photograph Shooting the Breeze, capturing a raw and engaging urban moment. Angela Heed secured 2nd place with Out of the Dust, an image full of movement and atmosphere. John Flanagan rounded out the top placements with 3rd place for All Go at One Aldwych Hotel, a dramatic and beautifully lit night shot.
