Special Interest Groups(SIG)
In addition to the events published in the main Programme, there are various other activities organised by the club throughout the year, including Special Interest Groups(SIGs)
These groups give enthusiastic members a chance to dive into a specific area of photography they love, meeting online or in person to share ideas and inspiration. Our aim is to encourage more groups to start up.
Macro SIG
Our aim is to have fun and improve our Macro photography. Each month we have a Macro theme or topic and discuss our ideas and images at an indoor meeting. We cover composition, location and image processing and explore how they can be used to turn good images into great pictures.
We have regular Macro photoshoots at interesting locations both local and further afield.

Nature & Wildlife S.I.G.
Our Nature & Wildlife Special Interest Group is open to any member with a passion for photographing the natural world — from birds, mammals and insects to plants, landscapes, and even marine life if you’re fortunate enough to own underwater gear. It’s a wonderfully broad area of photography, often overlapping with macro, landscape and fieldcraft skills.
We currently have four regular members and would love to welcome a few more companions. We stay in touch through the Nature/Wildlife WhatsApp group , and we usually meet at Jenny’s Café in Chard on Saturday mornings. These meet‑ups give us a chance to plan outings, compare camera settings, and share ideas on improving our success rates — whether through better technique, sharper fieldcraft, or simply more practice. As we’ve discovered, the more we practise, the luckier we seem to get.
